How can I Merge links from my account or to other accounts?

Simple URL Shortener does not currently support that you can merge links from one account to another account. Also if you created short links while not being logged into your account through the anonymous link shortening functionality, then you cannot later move and merge these links into your account later.

How to chose redirect type and how to change it for your shortened links

Simple URL Shortener provides two different ways of 301 redirects for your target audience that clicks on your links and visits your final destination target URL:

1. Page Redirects:
   This will shows your visitors a security preview page before the visitor will be redirected to the final target URL destination. This is the system default option
2. Direct Redirects:
   This will redirect your audience transparently and directly to the target URL destination without seeing any system pages from Simple URL shortener .

How to change redirect type of an already exiting shortened link

If you already have created a short link and you at some point want to change the type of 301 redirect for that link then go to your dashboard and click “Manage Links” in the right pane dashboard menu.

and then expand the menu and click “All links”:

Select from the page the link you wish to edit:

in the new window go down to the section with the drop-down selector for “Redirect Type” and select the redirect you want to use and then click on “Submit” button.

The “Redirect Page” is a security feature which we offer to our users and visitors that clicks on a shortened link by Simple URL Shortener’s system. This is also the default option, but it can be changed in your dashboard if you sign up for a free account or subscribe to a premium account.

The redirect page provides your target audience that clicks on a published short link a security tool to pre-view and and chance to asses how safe the target destination URL is and thus if they want to proceed to that final destination URL. As explained below in the image:

How to add RSS Feed to your Simple URL Shortener links

You can add your website’s RSS feed to your Simple URL Shortener account which will then display in your shortened links on the “Page Redirect” page.

Login to your account and in the left menu go to settings >>> profile and add your RSS feed to the field:

enter your server’s web address as displayed in the image above than saveit. After thatyour RSS feed will be displayed to all your vistors that clicks on your shortened links

Please note that your website’s or Disqus RSS feed will only display as long as you use “Page Redirects” on your shortened links. if you use transparent direct redirects then your RSS feed will not be displayed.

Shorten links directly easily from your browser!

Simple URL Shortener provides an easy and simple way to generate short links on the fly; straight from your browser without the need to be logged into your account.

You can enable the browser bookmark integration by logging into your account and then chose from the left menu:
→ Tools → Bookmarklet → and then drag the button into your browser’s bookmark/favorites toolbar or bookmark list. Please view the video below for further instructions.

Go and click in the right corner on the button that says “Customize and control” → Settings → appearance → Show bookmarks bar → Slide the slider button to the right to enable it

This browser integration works in most modern browsers and will work as long as the browser has java-script support built-in.

Do you track my data when I save links from the browser?

We highly value our users privacy. When you use your own browser and create short links with our URL Shortener browser bookmark integration bookmarklet it only communicates between your device and with our servers so we can create the new short URL’s on your account.

We do track or store any more information when you save a link from Simple URL Shortener’s bookmarklet. Neither do we allow any third party tracking or third parties to store and save any data of the links you create and save in your account.

Yes all links which you create with SImple URL Shortener is case sensitive by default.

This means that a link with the exactly the same name but where first link uses uppercase characters and the second link uses lower characters will by the system be seen as two different links and treated as such.

Example:
https://shorturl.gg/MyLink

https://shorturl.gg/mylink

In both cases they would be processed as two different links even though the name is almost the same spelling. However you could edit the link target address so both links points to the same destination.

There are multiple ways to find and copy your Simple URL Shortener links in your account

From your dashboard → Manage Links section:

From the Bookmarklet tools → Bookmarklet → browser integration tool, (Premium feature), after you have added the browser extension to your browser’s bookmark/favorites toolbar from the dashboard menu:

When you create new URL New Short Link → in your dashboard section. (This can only be done directly the short link has been created. After that you need to go to manage links in the meny):

On the public front-page. → You can also always create anonymous links with the public link shortener.

However you should be aware of that you cannot manage these anonymous links from within your personal account. They are a one-time only copy and paste occurrence :

Help!! The system sends me an error message when I attempt to create custom branded link.

If you receive the error message:

An error occurred: 400 Bad Request

when attempting to create a customized link, then that branded URL (alias) is taken by the Simple URL Shortener community and is no more available

If someone already before you has saved a custom short link with the alias, b2b.gd/example you would not be able to use ‘example ‘ as the custom keyword ending for your link on the b2b.gd domain.

When you chose a custom name alias for your links, then keep in mind that those custom keywords are uniquely and permanently associated with the link it was first saved with.

Changing your custom keyword on a short link does not free up that custom keyword alias for use on other shortened links that you or other users create, so be sure to carefully choose your branded alias keyword wisely because you can only use it once and custom keywords are also case sensitive!

All links that you create with Simple URL Shortener is permanent and will never expire unless they break our Terms of Use or if you delete the shortened link your self (Premium feature).

Links created using our front-page anonymous link shortener function however cannot be edited or deleted at all by end-users. They can only be edited by the Simple URL Shortener staff.
