Manage your visitors traffic and your short URL’s smarter.

In some cases you want to target your traffic in different ways depending on what type of traffic it is; depending on the country origin, device type and so forth. Our very powerful smart targeting system allows you to do that with only one short link, so you do not have to make a short link for each traffic type.  A more efficient way to manage your visitors traffic and smarter!

Go to your accounts main page and click the “New Short Link” button:

Now in the new window click the button “Advanced Options”:

and you will see this window:

You can have as many smart destination links within a specific short link as you like. You can even set rules where your audience traffic is sent depending on where they live and the devices they use.

This is a very convenient and effiecnet way when you are setting up for example a marketing campaign for your company and you wish to send your customers do various destinations depending where they are from.

For example:
Your company have multi-lingual website and you want each customer to land on the version of your website which is in their language. By using our URL smart targeting system you can do exactly that! 

Click on the “Add More” button to add as many smart targets as you need and set the traffic rules after you requirements. There is no real limits as you can can configure the rules to meet many different scenarios and marketing campaign needs.

As per example above you can see how we setup rules for that visitors using Windows computers and either talk Swedish, French or English should be sent to their respective language link. So then when a French visitor clicks the shortened URL that you create he or she is then sent to your French language version of your website. 

As you can se in the next example above same applies but this time the rules are deciding if traffic from United Kingdom, USA or France should be redirected and to which destination decided on the destination links entered.

You can password protect links in your account so only authorized people can view your links when you a new create a short link or you you want to protect an older shortened URL in your account. This is very easy to do. Just login and go to the “New Shorten Link” button:

and in that new window add your link that you want to be shortened and protected and click on the “Advanced Option” button: 

and the enter the password and click save, (The “Shorten” button) as seen in below recording.

After that your links will be protected.

However it is important to understand that you can only use the security Page Redirect and not the “Direct Redirect” because using the setting of “Direct Redirect” will override the password protection and send any visitor to the final destination without the need to enter a password:

As a Simple URL Shortener premium business user there is multiple options when using the API and if you want to use the direct redirects instead of the “Page Redirect” then follow the instructions below to directly bypass and transparently redirect to your users to your page of choice though the API.

To use developers API with the direct redirect add the below code to the end of the URL:

so the final API call will be:
Apply this to your code base and run it and all your shortened URLs will redirect directly to the destination URL that you want your users to land.

A custom branded link refers to a link that has either or both a custom domain name and a custom alias (custom keywords.) included in the generated short link. A custom branded link does not include automated random generated character strings in the half-back.

You can view change and edit all your links from within your account and manage all aspects from there.

You can manage and edit your Simple URL Shortener link’s title and description by going to the right pane menu in your user account and select “Manage links“:

then click on “All links“

On the right side a new window will load a list of all your links visible links, (except hidden links). From that link list find the link that you wish to edit:

Now click the “Edit” button. A new page will load in your control panel with the link you have chosen to edit:

From here change the shortened link’s title and description to your liking and once you are satisfied with your change just click on the “Submit” button to save your changes. Once you have done that; you have successfully edited the title and the description of your link. 

How to create a new short link within the dashboard.

As a Simple URL Shortener premium business user there is no need to request a change in your API limits as we do not enforce a hard limit of monthly API calls, instead you enjoy unlimited API requests under the terms of “fair use” of our service.

E.g. as long as you do not severely impair the API with such huge impact on our service that it affects negatively on the user experience of all our other users then there is no limit at all. However if this freedom of unlimited API calls is severely abused then we do reserve the right to add a hard limit to your account .

However, when all that is said and done; we do request that you do ensure that you are not making unnecessary API calls when it is not really needed.

For example: If multiple API calls can be avoided by the API call is triggered instead by a user’s own interaction of clicking a button then that is of course a preferred option because this puts less strain on the system.

The system automatically generates a API key for you.

You can obtain and find your API key by going to your account and then chose tools → Developers API → and you will find your personal API listed there at the top of the page.
